As a veterinary clinic we record cases other than parvo, erhlichia and broken bones for future reference. We started early this 2022, some of our great cases are well documented. We are glad sharing some of them, a randomly from surgical, internal, dental and

Complicated emergency cases.

Hit and run boy, travelled all the way from Bulacan, tissue necrosis on forearm from previous surgery on his veterinary clinic didn't make it tjrough. The flesh was necrotizing deep into the bone. He was in medication for a week, but the lesion and trauma on his legs are not healing. Our team decided for tissue transplant to close large forearm open wound. Later on his journey he developed anemia with severe blood loss for few days. Suspected gastric ulceration due to pain meds he has taken from his previous vet clinic. Immediate transfusion and management has been done. Was sent back home after a month of medication and tissue management.

We decided to do wound debribement to see healthy tissues, tissue autograph and stitching techniques. Bandaging and proper medication was given. Immunosuppressant medication, antibiotic and collagen production booster was used for faster and better result.

All sutures are removed on day 10, complete wound closure happened on his day 16. The hair grow after a month and he is back on his regular activity now.

Vaccinated after recovery, from small size puppy, now he's almost a year old on the photo above.

A 30kg male, 2 years old, Golden retriever dog accidentally step on some sharp broken door glass. Fortunate enough, we are open for emergency cases during that evening. Ligation if the major vessel, muscle repair and closure of the wound was done in less than an hour. Imaging verify negative for remnant, bleeding has stop few hour after operation.

Due to major vessel trauma, blood loss has been detected near to anemia. Blood supplementation and medication has been given, we prevented blood loss through surgery and boosted red blood back to normal level through supplementation. Today, Max was able to walk normally through his forearm.

A young american bully brought by the owner with a complain about her bowel, diarrhea and inappetence. Fully immunized and wormers are up to date. Blood works reveal normal hematocrit, thrombocytopenia and high level of infection. Fecal analysis shows large amount of protozoa. Blood urea, liver enzymes are also sky-high. Severe halitosis (bad breath) and salivation is seen upon physical assesment. Tip of the tongue was dark and necrotic, or about to fall off with severe gingivitis. Due to poor kidney function, the urea was not able to excrete in the urine, some of it was deposit in the mucus membrane in the gum.

Fifteen Days, no appetite and only iv fluid keep her, medicines was given intravenous. On 16th day, she started eating soft food (renal and recovery) was discharge after and he owner left us with remaining Php4,000 balance after healing her breeding dog and making her well alive for long period of time.

" we are very generous that we trust our clients, this dog owner left us with remaining balance knowing he is well off and financially capable. Blocking us on facebook and phone calls.."

" Age is not a disease and diagnosis, do not be afraid of getting your pets under the anesthesia and trust your veterinarian. They know what they are doing."

LOLA'S FAVORITE PET

Travel all the way from Guagua, for healht check. Blackie a old male unaltered pet shows enlarged scrotum, was in pain and inappetent for some days. Meication given by previous health check didn't work, was referred to us for operation and second opinion. Due to large amount of pus and fluid secretion from his scrotum, our team decided for a scrotal ablation and castation.

Inside this gigantic mass, is a large amount of inflamed destroyed architectural tissues. Orchitis has developed due to epididymis torsion. !4 days after operation, follow up went well and wound has been close without any complication.

AGAINST ALL ODSS: THE FIGHTER

One of our miracle patient this year is Amber, a geriatric patient with severe disease. Owners brought her at night due to lethargy and diarrhea, was positive for some intestinal protozoa. Severely dehydrated and has poor prognosis. Blood works revealed another major underlying problem causing severe anemia and low platelet level with high infection level. Due to enlarged abdomen, we decided to confirm it and do imaging. In house ultrasound shows enlarge bilateral uterine horn, with fluid content. Amber has Pyometra, an infection of uterus which is common to old dogs that are still intact.

After a day of confinement and fluid correction, Amber became active as compare to admission. To address his uterine infection, we need to do emergency OVH Surgery. Day after, owners brought a dog donor for blood transfusion. A total of 450mL of blood was transferred o Amber prior to Ovariohysterectomy surgery. The operation went well, and Amber was discharge after 5 days post operation.

" Responsible fur parents are one of the key for sick pets recovery and they never felt giving-up on Amber, they go all out because Amber is their child not a pet."

UNSETTLED INTESTINES DUE TO FOOD ALLERGEN

Small toy-breeds are predisposed to hypoglycemia, this is Boo a 900 grams hypohglycemic patient. Was admitted due to soft stool and has blood tinge. Fecalysis was negative for protozoa and worms. Blood works was done, anemia (might be due to intestinal ulceration) and hypobilirubenemia was confirm. Due to low bile, the pet was confined and poop record wasing was done

  • Day 1 - Fasted 12hrs, Poop was watery with blood and colored reddish-orange

  • Day 2-3 - Recovery Diet, Poop was watery and still reddish

  • Day 4 - GI Diet gray poop

  • Day 5 - Yellow and Brown Poop

  • Day 6 - Brown poop with little consistency

  • day 7 - grade 1 poop without blood and good color

We did food trial with daily different whole food to verify the allergen inducer. Based on his poop, corn, wheat and rice are the top diarrhea inducing food. Therefore food with these food, they are prevented to minimize recurrent diarrhea. Low Bile was address aswell by not giving too much of a protein (meat and beef meal/tallow/pork), the intestines was so burden in digesting and reacting with many ingridients in a complex diet. Hypoglycemia was address by giving D50 Intravenous and feeding banana regularly in the morning and evening at home.

" Neonatal hypoglycemia and diarrhea is one of the most deadly disease in puppies, it is hard to correct fluid loss and electrolyte imbalance in a small puppy. Dehydration is also one of the leading cause of mortality."
